Indiana 811’s new ticketing software, Exactix by 4iQ Solutions, launched earlier this month. This new ticketing platform offers the core benefits of online ticketing, with the added value of a world-class geocoding engine to define safe and accurate excavation notification areas. Irth, the previous ticketing software, is no longer available.

If you currently enter your locate requests online and have not created an Exactix account, please check your Inbox and Spam folders for messages from Indiana 811. All current online account holders have been contacted with instructions on how to register their Exactix account. If you do not currently enter your locate requests and are interested in training, please visit Indiana811.org/pros/exactix-training.

Indiana 811 Liaisons are Encouraging DIYers to Contact 811 This Spring

The warm weather of spring often means the start of DIY landscaping and home improvement projects across the state. This spring, Indiana 811 liaisons are reaching homeowners where many DIY landscaping projects begin – plant nurseries! Throughout National Safe Digging Month, liaisons are setting up booths at nurseries and handing out 811 swag and literature to promote safe digging to thousands of homeowners who are excited to plant this spring.

Indiana 811 is excited to present the first Indiana 811 Safety Spotlight featuring Miller Pipeline. In this video, we discuss what’s done after the notification to 811 has been made. When is a Locate Request Truly an Emergency?

According to Indiana Dig Law, an emergency is defined as “imminent danger to life, health, property or loss of service.” In the case of a true emergency, please contact Indiana 811 immediately. There are various situations that are not considered emergencies and must wait the two full businesses days to receive a locate. Examples of non-emergencies include trying to squeeze in work before a holiday, installing water lines with no outages or breaks, or normal sidewalk repairs.

Be sure to plan work properly with plenty of notice. Ticket requests must be made at least two full business days in advance and are valid for up to 20 calendar days.

Digging Up History at The Children’s Museum

Indiana 811 is proud to announce that it will be sponsoring the SUE exhibit at The Children’s Museum in Indianapolis this spring and summer! SUE is one of the largest, oldest and most complete Tyrannosaurus rex fossils ever discovered. The full-size cast of SUE, which is now on display at The Children’s Museum, is more than 40 feet in length and 13 feet high. Indiana 811’s sponsorship of the exhibit will include signage and 811 information surrounding the exhibit. Head on over to The Children’s Museum to get a glimpse of this magnificent T. rex!

INPAA Firehouse 811 Contest Returns

INPAA kicked off its National Safe Digging Month social media campaign on April 1st. The social media campaign will be shared with firehouses around the state of Indiana. The objective of the campaign will be to have firehouses promote 811 in their communities by displaying messaging about “Why We 811” on their social media platforms.

INPAA is encouraging firehouses to post photos of why they contact 811 before they dig. Examples can be but not limited to, family members of emergency responders, emergency responder groups, photos of their community, and anything else they feel passionate about keeping safe. INPAA will monitor all submissions by having the firehouses use the hashtag #whywe811 and tagging INPAA on Facebook. The grand prize winner will receive a $200 Visa gift card. Other categories will receive $50 Visa gift cards. This campaign will end April 31st. INPAA hopes this social media campaign encourages different firehouses to engage with and promote Indiana 811 during National Safe Digging Month.
